iPhone developer to close up shop, sell business

The App Store presents an appealing opportunity to developers. It cuts out much of the traditional cruft of running a software business, such as managing payments and download servers, and Apple’s development tools generally seem to be a hit. Unfortunately, these conveniences weren’t enough for the high school developers behind Syncode, makers of Syncopy, Synotes, and iTweetReply, so they have decided to sell.

Toshiba’s Two-Screen Libretto Tablet: What You Need To Know

Toshiba announced on Monday a limited edition dual-touchscreen ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) running Windows 7 that will be available for purchase from select retailers later this summer. Called the Libretto W100 some critics are wondering if it could be a challenge to Apple’s iPad; however, unlike Apple’s single-panel touchscreen computer Toshiba’s new UMPC sticks to the traditional clamshell design found in most laptops and netbooks. Toshiba did not announce pricing for the W100.

The arrival of Google Chrome 5 for OS X seems to have intensified the arms race among Mac Web browsers. Mere weeks after Google took its own admirable shot at the browser crown, Apple’s Safari 5 once again secures its place on the throne. The duration of its reign is anyone’s guess, but for now, you won’t find a faster, more powerful Mac browser than Safari.
