EA CEO wants to sell DLC to console game pirates

Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo recently spoke with EA’s CEO, John Riccitiello, who had a rather refreshing view of the rampant problem of video game piracy. Even though he made sure to clarify that he and his company look down on the act of piracy, Riccitiello noted that even if some gamers don’t pay for the games they’re playing, all of them are potential customers for DLC. “There’s a sizable pirate market and a sizable second sale market and we want to try to generate revenue in that marketplace.” Riccitiello said.

Fourth Resident Evil movie pushed to 2011

While filming on the movie is set to conclude this month, Kotaku has discovered that Resident Evil: Afterlife–the fourth film in Resident Evil movie franchise–will be delayed from its original August 2010 release date to January 2011. AceShowBiz reports that the reason for the delay is the post-production work necessary for director Paul W.S. Anderson.

Patent reveals new uses for upcoming PS3 motion controller

A recent patent application submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (dug up by GameSpot) reveals a number of potential applications for the upcoming Sony Motion Controller due out in 2010.

Smithsonian to host ‘Art of Video Games’ in 2012

The Smithsonian American Art Museum recently published a press release announcing plans to open a new exhibition chronicling the development of art in video games. “The Art of Video Games” will open in March of 2012 and run for six months under the supervision of guest curator Chris Melissinos, a game development guru who has worked with Sun Microsystems and ncSoft.
