Netflix-Relativity Deal: Securing Blu-ray’s Downfall?
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 9:00 No CommentsTuesday’s announcement of a content-streaming deal between Netflix and Relativity Media, the latter a Hollywood production company that makes mainstream flicks such as “Get Him to the Greek,” “Grown Ups,” and “Robin Hood,” is welcome news for subscribers of the movie-rental service. It means that Netflix members will be able to stream Relativity titles to their TVs and computers sooner than before. Rather than waiting (in some cases) years after a movie’s DVD release before they can watch the title online, members will only have to wait months.

One Million iPads Sold, Apple Says

The announcement comes less than a month after Apple began shipping the Wi-Fi only version to customers on April 3. In addition to preliminary sales figures, Apple also said that iPad users have already downloaded 12 million apps for the iPad, and 1.5 million e-books.

Fourth Resident Evil movie pushed to 2011

AceShowBiz reports that the reason for the delay is the post-production work necessary for director Paul W.S. Anderson.
Dark Void film rights purchased, Brad Pitt rumored to star

Capcom announced earlier today that they had reached an agreement with Brad Pitt’s film production company, Plan B Entertainment. While his company’s involvement with the game doesn’t guarantee the superstar actor will appear in the movie–Plan B has produced non-Pitt movies like The Time Traveler’s Wife and Running With Scissors–Capcom’s announcement states that Dark Void will be “developed as a sci-fi action franchise and potential starring vehicle for Pitt.”

Chrome OS will run only on devices specifically manufactured for it and Google is dictating to manufacturers the hardware specifications. For instance, Chrome OS devices will be netbooks, will not include a hard drive, will have only solid state disks, will rely on specified WiFi chipsets/adapters for connectivity and must have full-sized keyboards, says Sundar Pichai, Google’s vice president of product management.
